Why VPT Performance

All physical therapy clinics

are not created equal

Overlapping patients on therapist’s schedules and the inability to help performance individuals achieve their goals has left a stigma attached to what physical therapy can actually do. A patient should never say “5 years ago a therapist told me I was going to have this issue for the rest of my life” or “I haven’t been pain-free in years”. Differing patient experiences at clinics adds to the notion physical therapy is only useful after a surgery when in fact it can be utilized for so much more.

Shannon is the Director of Physical Therapy at VPT Performance and has been practicing since 2002. Her experience includes a wide variety of settings, but she has concentrated in sports medicine and orthopedics for the majority of her career. She has specialized her treatment and care towards maintaining a high level of function and prevention of injuries, making her specifically qualified for treating and assisting athletes of all levels achieve their maximal potential and sport or fitness goals. She was directly assigned to a Special Operations unit for several years providing her vast experience working with persons with multiple traumas return to full function. Following this she returned to the private sector to start her own clinic. She designed the VPT Performance physical therapy department to allow therapists to treat patients one-on-one and provide the best quality performance care available.

Shannon incorporates her unique experiences and aggressive manual treatment style in all VPT Performance clinics and in her training of other clinicians. All VPT Performance therapists are trained by Shannon to conduct in-depth neuromuscular and biomechanical evaluation of injury to discover the underlying cause of the dysfunction and successfully treat it. Focusing on the patient is not novel, it just happens to be rare.

Testimonials

I have been seeing VPT Performance for a handful of different injuries and overuse pain for over 6 years. These injuries include lower back pain and shoulder pain. I have been treated by a lot of PTs and VPT Performance is by far the best. They are always personable and professional and the techniques they use continually provide relief to both my shoulder and lower back. Leading up to surgery, they consistently dissected the problematic area and found second/third areas that were also contributing to my problem and has helped resolve them.

- Burke

VPT Performance consistently seeks new innovative techniques and with confidence tries each method to find the most effective solution that is best for me. The treatments I have received both before and after surgeries have allowed me to stay active at work and with my family. They pushed me harder when needed to get me further and progress quicker in my recovery. At the same time, they always listened and used the methods I said provided the most relief. I would highly recommend VPT Performance to anyone suffering from any injury, pre or post-surgery, or just for a tune up.

- Logan

This is the first time physical therapy actually worked for me and it is because VPT Performance isn’t afraid to go hands on and do manual therapy. We don’t just do exercises for the whole session which never provided me relief in the past. They use their hands, their scraping tools, their needles to actually give me relief where it’s needed. This is what physical therapy is supposed to be.
